The principle of Rapport-Based Music is to develop rapport and relationships with the person we are supporting. We achieve this by using the 3C’s to join in with a person’s in the moment interests and behaviour, celebrating the person for who they are.
This principle applies with all the people we support and in all situations and circumstances. While the principle is true for all people, to find rapport it is likely that we will have to use offer different activities or songs depending on the persons needs.
The most common techniques that we use in Rapport-Based Music are songs, and these songs perform a number of functions. These are listed below and over the next few posts I will explain each one in details:
