I have been fortunate enough to train and work with some wonderful practitioners and trainers, without which I would not be doing what I am doing today. These include:
Brilliant community musician and choir leader who I’ve worked and played with since 2005. Val taught me the values behind community art and music and was in turn inspired by the work of Pete Moser and Hugh Nankerville.
Etienne originally developed the theory of communities of practice along with his collaborator Jean Lave in the 1980’s. Etienne and Bev now offer high level consultancy and training in social learning and I trained with them intensively in 2014 and 2015. In 2017 I presented with Etienne at a conference for the NHS in Leeds. The social learning theory has had a big impact on my work and I’m very grateful for how Etienne and Bev share their skill.
I have been studying qigong, meditation and chinese martial arts since 2001. Learning these skills has had a profound impact upon my life and I am very grateful to my teacher Master Darryl Moy and grand teacher Master Michael Tse. I have been teaching my own classes for 10 years and offer sessions in Sheffield and Chesterfield.
Mary Turner and Action Space Mobile
Brilliant artist, puppeteer, qigong teacher and dance movement psychotherapist who also happens to be my wife. Orla and I have performed shadow theatre together, taught qigong and offered participatory arts to people living with dementia and mental health problems and she is always an inspiration.
